π City Hall Civic Square, Downtown Cambridge
Walk A Mile in Their Shoes is YWCA Cambridge’s annual community fundraising walk and a bold, public stand against gender-based violence (GBV). It’s a powerful, visible act of solidarity. On October 18, we’ll walk a symbolic one-mile route through downtown Cambridge to raise awareness, raise funds, and raise our voices. Every step helps women, girls, and gender-diverse people access safety, shelter, and support.
All proceeds directly fund:
- A 24/7 emergency women’s emergency homeless shelter
- Free, violence prevention education with youth across Cambridge

β¨ Why Join?
Because the need is urgent and the impact is real.
- 75% of women experiencing homelessness are survivors of GBV
- Only 13% of shelter beds in Canada are dedicated to women
- A woman or girl is killed every 48 hours in Canada
- YWCA Cambridge’s youth programs reach kids as young as 8, but rely on community support to keep going
